Lock 3 announced on April 15 that its upcoming summer season will feature nearly 110 events and aims to attract a quarter of a million visitors in downtown Akron. The venue, known for its concerts and festivals, is set to begin the season on May 23 with Live at the Locks, featuring two stages and six local bands.

Organizers say this year’s programming was shaped by community feedback requesting more variety, increased opportunities for local talent, and additional family-friendly experiences. Mayor Shammas Malik said, “Lock 3 is a place where everyone belongs and every resident can find something to celebrate. This lineup reflects what we heard from our community, and we’re excited to bring it to life all summer long.”

The schedule includes national acts such as Gin Blossoms on June 26 and Carl Thomas on June 27 during the opening week. Tom Keifer of Cinderella will perform July 23, while other highlights include the ‘70s Soul Jam (August 1), Pure Prairie League (August 2), and Gerald Albright closing out the season with jazz on September 12. Tribute shows celebrating artists like Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin are also planned. Regular weekly events such as Lock 4 Blues & Jazz nights and Gospel Sundays will continue throughout the summer.

Beyond music performances, Lock 3’s festival calendar features returning favorites alongside new additions. These include Polymer Palooza celebrating Akron’s innovation legacy (June 6), Juneteenth Celebration (June 7), All-American Burgers & BBQ Festival with fireworks (July 3–4), Italian Festival (July10–11), African American Cultural Festival (July18–19), Fire Fighters Challenge involving participants from thirteen states (July23–25), Pickle Fest (August9) ,and Akron Pride Festival(August22). Organizers say every weekend will offer different food options, cultural activities, and competitions.
