Later that day, she shared her stance on Department of Homeland Security funding. On February 6, 2026, she tweeted: “Rep. Sykes cannot support funding for the Department of Homeland Security until Republicans agree to put common sense reforms in place that help ensure ICE is not running lawless in American cities. https://t.co/sEecTj6iVB”.

On February 8, 2026, Sykes commented on rising consumer prices and linked them to federal policy: “Your usual Super Bowl spread may cost a lot more this year, thanks to the Trump administration’s policies. At a time when prices are already far too high, Ohioans can’t afford this. https://t.co/4rswpHMmiH”.

Sykes was born in Akron, Ohio in 1986 and continues to reside there at age 37. She holds a BA from Kent State University and a JD from the University of Florida. Sykes succeeded Tim Ryan as U.S. Representative for Ohio’s 13th district in 2023.
