Rep. Emilia Strong Sykes, U.S. Congresswoman representing Ohio’s 13th district, posted a series of messages on her social media accounts highlighting community pride, voter registration deadlines, and support for transgender rights.
On March 30, 2026, Sykes recognized local achievements with the message: “Happy #330Day! Today and every day, we celebrate the contributions and achievements of everyone in the 330, or as I like to call it, the #BirthplaceOfChampions.”
Later that same day, she reminded constituents about upcoming election deadlines: “Are you ready to vote? You must register or update your information by April 6 to be able to vote in Ohio’s May 5 Primary Election. Make sure you take the steps to make your voice heard!” This announcement was made ahead of Ohio’s primary election scheduled for May 5.
On March 31, Sykes marked Transgender Day of Visibility with a statement of support: “On Transgender Day of Visibility, we celebrate our transgender neighbors. As your Representative, I will always defend your right to live your truth.”
Sykes has represented Ohio’s 13th district in Congress since replacing Tim Ryan in 2023. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. Born in Akron in 1986 and currently residing there at age 37, Sykes holds degrees from Kent State University and the University of Florida.
