U.S. Representative Emilia Strong Sykes, who has represented Ohio’s 13th district since 2023 after succeeding Tim Ryan, recently shared updates on her community engagement and local history initiatives through a series of social media posts.

On February 14, 2026, Sykes posted about her participation in a community event for veterans: “Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone in #OH13! This week, Rep. Sykes visited two elementary classrooms to make valentine cards with students as part of her Valentines for Vets Program. Team Sykes also passed out more than 1,700 cards to local veterans! Thank you to everyone who”.

Two days later, on Presidents’ Day, she highlighted Ohio’s presidential heritage: “Happy Presidents’ Day! Ohio has a proud history as the ‘Mother of Presidents,’ including right here in #OH13, which is home to the William McKinley Presidential Library & Museum.” (February 16, 2026).

Later that same day, Sykes recognized the contributions of First Ladies and noted a local institution dedicated to their legacy: “This Presidents’ Day, we also honor the profound impacts our county’s First Ladies have had on our history and culture. #OH13 is proud to be the home of the National First Ladies Library & Museum, which is located in Canton. #BirthplaceOfChampions” (February 16, 2026).

Sykes was born in Akron in 1986 and continues to reside there at age 37. Before joining Congress, she served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University and a law degree from the University of Florida.
