U.S. Representative Emilia Strong Sykes, who serves Ohio’s 13th district in Congress, has recently shared a series of updates on her official social media account regarding her community engagement and legislative initiatives.

On March 12, 2026, Sykes wrote: “I joined @DemWomenCaucus Conversation Across America Series to host a conversation with Black women who are nurses and social workers in our community to hear about the problems directly impacting them. It’s valuable insights like these that help me fight for #OH13 back in https://t.co/RQP2PUMyvl”.

The following day, March 13, she announced an opportunity for young artists: “Calling all high school artists! Applications are open for the 2026 Congressional Art Competition.  Submit your original artwork by Friday, March 27 for a chance to have it displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year! https://t.co/ZSVrcLKitJ”.

Later that same day, Sykes commented on federal policy changes affecting student loans: “I led the @DemWomenCaucus in fighting back against the Trump administration’s new student loan rule that would hurt women the most. Women deserve the freedom to pursue the in-demand careers they chose without being burdened by predatory student loan debt. https://t.co/BXcyf17Iql”.

Emilia Sykes began representing Ohio’s 13th district in Congress after succeeding Tim Ryan in 2023 and had previously served as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 2015 to 2022. Born and residing in Akron, Ohio, she holds degrees from Kent State University and earned her law degree from the University of Florida.
