U.S. Representative Emilia Strong Sykes, who represents Ohio’s 13th district in Congress, has recently addressed concerns over rising living costs and the ongoing government shutdown through a series of posts on her social media account.
On September 30, 2025, Sykes highlighted affordability issues and criticized Republican lawmakers for not supporting measures to extend healthcare subsidies: “From housing to food to healthcare, costs are too high right now, which is why Rep. Sykes is working for YOU in Congress to make things more affordable. Meanwhile, Republicans are refusing to extend the Affordable Care Act Premium Tax Credits, which help thousands of people in https://t.co/ympQ9GJvx0”.
The following day, October 1, she invited constituents to an informational call regarding the effects of a government shutdown: “Are you worried about how a government shutdown will impact you and your family?
